About  John  Pipkin

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, John attended Washington & Lee University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received his Ph.D. in British Literature from Rice University. He was an Assistant Professor of Humanities and Rhetoric at Boston University before moving to Austin, where he served as the Executive Director of the Writers’ League of Texas.  Currently, he teaches creative writing at the University of Texas, and in the Low-Residency MFA Program at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.  John has received research and writing fellowships from the Harry Ransom Center,  the Dobie Paisano Fellowship Program, the MacDowell Colony, and Yaddo.
